A wave of serenity spreads around her as she draws her bow, her eyes on her target.

Umi is the level-headed and diligent straight man in her group of friends. She is the voice of reason, reminding her friends that there are certain actions that they cannot take because of rules and regulations. She is the one that returns her friends to reality when what they are asking for is beyond what is realistically possible. However, there are moments when, with enough pressure applied and pleading looks directed at her, she will make exceptions. As much as she does not want to admit it, they are her irreplaceable friends.

When Umi heard that her friend wanted to create an idol group and wanted Umi to be a part of it, she refused outright simply because she is too embarrassed to go up on stage to dance, sing, and wear clothes which might not look good on her. Her heart is steady; she will never waver from that decision. Yet, there are moments when, left alone, Umi would strike a cute pose here and there in front of a mirror or see if an idol attire would fit her. Getting caught doing this would be most embarrassing, but she has countermeasures planned to get out of the predicament.

Umi is one day expected to settle down and take over her household business of martial arts and traditional dance. Until that day comes, she will make sure that her high school life as a student and a school idol are worth it.
